โณ The moment: Your EV cab company doesn't buy its own cars. A closely linked listed company borrows money, buys the EVs and leases them to you, and the same founders sit on both sides. As you grow, what protects your lenders and investors?

What actually happened
In April 2025, India's market regulator SEBI barred Gensol Engineering and its promoters, who were also BluSmart's co-founders, from the securities market. SEBI's interim order alleged that part of the loans meant for buying EVs leased to BluSmart had been diverted. BluSmart stopped taking bookings in April 2025 and promised customers refunds. The case was still under investigation at the time.
